This was basically a replacement of the Battle at the Fist of First Men, which was passed over in like the 2nd season
Agreed. Even though I liked the way they handled it on the show somewhat, I still felt majorly let down that there was never the big fight like in the book. It looks like they did that on purpose so they could blow our minds with last night's fight.
I'm good with that

Got a HOF Hodor thread going on right now

It's been mentioned that's its targrerean steel but it's not crazy to think that it's what is used to make targaerean steel...

I think it may have been referenced, but not an actual scene (like Robb's marriage while off on campaign).
Mel had a vision of what occurred-
quote:
Snowflakes swirled from a dark sky and ashes rose to meet them, the grey and the white whirling around each other as flaming arrows arced above a wooden wall and dead things shambled silent through the cold, beneath a great grey cliff where fires burned inside a hundred caves. Then the wind rose and the white mist came sweeping in, impossibly cold, and one by one the fires went out. Afterward only the skulls remained
Jon Snow did not go, but sent a around a dozen ships, they lost half the ships to bad weather. Ravens were sent to Jon telling him to send help by land since the seas were to dangerous, and that the situation is so bad the they are eating one in another. Jon sends Tormund, who is in route when the book ends.
Arya gets word in Braavos that wildling are arriving on slave ships from Hardhome.
The show did a great job last night.

I think they attacked the wildlings because they saw the ships coming into the harbor to take them away. Jon being there was probably just good timing on his part. I want to know if they are going to to go back after the WWs and wights leave so Jon can get the dragonglass. I guess he can go to dragonstone and get some more if not...

I don't think Barristan Selmy, Hound, Mountain, Bronn, Brienne could even hang with Snow.

also last night confirmed the rumor about who jon's mother is. when the intro showed a reference to the mormont steel, i figured it was going to be a clue that it would be able to kill a WW. the references in the intro a few weeks ago about lyanna/aegon pretty much confirm that theory.
it wouldn't shock me if that is the shocking scene that ends this season...except i have a feeling i know what that is going to be given the final episode's name

What? Those two thing have nothing to do with each other
Posted on 6/1/15 at 1:46 pm to wildtigercat93
except the "power of the preview"
the 2 events have no relation to each other, but the fact that the showrunner is using those previews to foreshadow future events is major

They use it to foreshadow what will happen in the episode you are about to watch, not to foreshadow R+L=J

Wait, what???

Slopes is off his rocker on this one, don't worry

which was a discussion about that situation that begins to unfold the reveal
why else would they include that? it was intentional, just like the reference to jon's sword

They brought it up to remind people of the scenes from the 1 season before LF and Sansa had a convo about Lyanna

Well yeah, that scene foreshadowed R +L= J, and we talked about it ad nausea when it happened and that's when everyone got pissy in the Hodor thread
But that has nothing to do with this episode

No it did not because it didn't happen. The Aegon they were talking about last week was the master's brother. She wasn't born when he died.

I think he meant to say Rhagar instead of Aemon
If not then I have absolutely no clue what he's trying to say

That was I thought at first but he didn't say Aemon, he reference Aegon "EGG" the one that was brought up on last week episode.

Then I have no clue what he's talking about in regards to Jon
