No, it was not intentional. Sorry, but it was just a gut reaction to the inconsistency of Martin's statement.

And my reputation is actually that I'm banned for NOT spoiling Game of Thrones. I've been banned twice for not spoiling the show.

Steering the thread back to topic, my komotose Khal Drago roommate just watched the episode, here is his reaction at the end

"Lame episode. Nothing fricking happened"

I told him if you don't like that episode or you think nothing happened then you should just stop watching

He should have at least been happy about the tits and fighting, even if he had no idea about the significance of any of it.

You're Right. We got 2 badass fighting scenes, tits, and R + L = J all in 50 minutes

He doesn't deserve this show

And he still can't remember Danys name. If we say it he goes "who??" And well tell him and he goes "oh the dragon lady" drives me insane.

Did he used to ride the short bus to school?

Is he just constantly too high to recall anything?

Sorry for that, but it's still a valid point.

IMO, you need to rethink the "spoilers possible" qualifier for this thread. Nice to know you'd have banned me for that. I love you too, buddy.

The thread has worked well for a few years set up as it is. As long as people are cool and edit stuff when asked, there are no problems. I've probably had to RA less than 5 times. Let's just move on now, no need to keep playing the persecuted victim.

eta: as for my saying "Fetch the block", the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword.

My favorite lurker moment during my long banning was when you went on the help board and said you didn't want to be an admin, but requested the power to edit/delete posts and ban spoiler offenders.

Yeah, totally not an admin. You must be really creepy when you're trying to get laid. "I just want to get an erection and insert it into your vagina, but no sex. That would be wrong."

You say Jon was badly burnt, prove it. That's not how I remember it happening.

Discussion of Jon's burned hand from A Forum of Ice and Fire. LINK: could contain an unknown amount of book info, Hodors click at your own risk

From a reddit discussion:

In A Game of Thrones, Jon severely burns his hand when he grabs flaming drapes and flings them at the attacking wight. The event was physically, but also very emotionally scarring for Jon.
"At first it had felt as if his hand were still aflame, burning day and night. Only plunging it into basins of snow and shaved ice gave any relief at all. Jon thanked the gods that no one but Ghost saw him writhing on his bed, whimpering from the pain. And when at last he did sleep, he dreamt, and that was even worse. In the dream, the corpse he fought had blue eyes, black hands, and his father's face, but he dared not tell Mormont that."
So we see that this event was clearly very traumatic for Jon. It also may hold some foreshadowing for Jon's arc. He did battle with a wight (usually associated with cold and ice) but instead came away with a reminder of the damage fire can do. Throughout the series, Jon continues to flex his burned hand, never forgetting the night he encountered one of the Others. He also learned that fire can have devastating consequences for those who use it.

I won't link this as the discussion contains future spoilers, which I have deleted from the quoted portion.

Ok all the video showed was him throwing it. Was there any discussion afterwards or acknowledgement that his hand was burnt/scarred?

And those ppl in that thread are discussing the book, not the show.

Did you not hear him cry out in pain when he grabbed the lantern?

Not to mention the sound of burning flesh.
