Has anyone else notice how Westeros is pretty much broke..

House Lannister: Richest family in the Kingdom because of their gold mines. The gold mines were used up and they couldn't get anymore and were in a enormous amount of debt to the Iron Bank. Casterly Rock is basically worthless so much that they let Dany take it so they could take over the Reach.

House Tyrell was the second richest house, except they're all dead now and what gold/food/wealth they had the Lannister Army took.

What did they do with that gold.. Bought the Golden Company to fight a war.

So the two richest houses either owed money to the Iron Bank or had everything took away and give to the Golden Company.

I think the 3rd richest house was House Martell, expect they're all dead.

Seems like all of the wealth of Westeros is being sent to Essos...

Learn how debt doesnt really mean the same thing for the super wealthy.

Like remember what happened the minute Cersei paid back the Iron Bank? Dude was begging to loan them money.

If you owe a million dollars to the bank, the bank owns you. If you owe a billion dollars to the bank you own the bank.

The Lannisters actually still had possession of the Golden Tooth mines, but there's no doubt that they were useless to them in the current circumstances.

I'd be willing to bet that the Vale has a good bit of wealth, what with all of those likely ore-rich mountains around and a fertile valley to grow crops.

If Westeros parrots the New World the North likely does a hopping trade in skins and furs. That was a major export for the colonies back in the old days.

I have absolutely no clue what the Stormlands sell.

The Westeros economy is getting ready to move from the Gold Standard to the Dragon Glass Standard. Invest heavily in Dragon Glass futures while you can.

I may have missed this but does the Iron Bank have a collections arm or a bunch of hired goons to go collect on the money they are owed?

Kinda like the US with GB and France in WWI, we had so much money and goods going over there that we had a vested interest in them winning. If they lose, we don't get our money back and aren't the world's economical power that we were at the end of the war. Kinda like WWII as well.
