Nice little horror entry off the beaten path. Unique premise that establishes a sense of dread absent from most of the cut-and-paste horror schlock out there.

Amazing score and settings as well. Very retro vibe. One of my favorites.

See, I keep reading these things, but I didn't notice a retro vibe (like The House of the Devil). The movie's style is more forward-leaning to me. The score was ok. But again, it wasn't directly screaming Carpenter to me.

I went into it after seeing the amazing rotten tomato score when it was in theaters, and was left kinda mehhh. It was ok, I just had boosted expectations I guess going in.

the director did everything he could to throw it in your face

he tried to make it anachronistic from both modern and 70s/80s era so you didn't know when the movie was set

focus on teenagers, sex, and lack of gore porn is also a throwback to most of what we see these days (zombies and ghosts attacking families)
