I hate when this happens. You're flipping through the channel guide, see a movie that you love, flip to that channel...and it's the wrong damn movie.

Some examples:

Crossroads: Expecting the Steve Vai/Karate Kid version where the guitarist sells his shoul, and when you tune in its the Britney Spears movie.

Bad Boys: Expecting to see juvie Sean Penn bash in the brains of Esai Morales, and instead you get Bad Comedy by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

But the granddaddy of them all...
Trapped - 1973 movie starring James Brolin. I freaking LOVED this movie as a kid. Guy gets accidentally locked into the department store at closing time and has to fend off a half dozen Doberman guard dogs all night long (luckily there was a sports department). I can't tell you how many times over the past 5 decades I've seen the name "Trapped" on the channel guide, only to be devastatingly disappointed by some other damn movie with the same name. I've never seen it again since the first time (though I just found it on youtube ).

Blown Away

Always think I'm going to get this one with a nude Nicole Eggert:

Instead I get the crappy one that even Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones couldn't save:

I've always wondered if some channels buy these movies at some dirt cheap price in order to trick you on your DVR guide.

Doberman movies were the shite in the early 70's.

There were a lot of them, but I think it was just a short-lived fad, nothing like quicksand, which I learned about on NPR recently:

The Rise and Fall of Quicksand

Quicksand had a good run.

Kodi/Exodus fooled us when we were trying to watch "Split." It showed up as the 2017 version and in the "trending" or "people watching" section. When we started the movie, it seemed to be bowling themed. We were wondering if the girl that gets kidnapped was a bowler or something. Once the pre-credits began to roll, we realized that we were in the wrong movie.

Dude, I was coming to post the same thing!! Split? So yea, a bowling movie. My GF was like, WTF? For 35 minutes, I kept saying" this is the part where they get kid napped " every 5 minutes

When I was younger, my parents called a small video rental store that didn't always get new releases on time and reserved a copy of Up Close and Personal (Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Redford TV Reporter Movie.) Apparently the video store didn't get that one in, but they had an old porno with that title name too. Came as a nasty shock when they turned it on.
