The chances of seeing a naked Nadine Velazquez (or equivalent) in a Tom Hanks movie is zero—or pretty low—so no, unfortunately it doesn't look like a Flight rip-off to me.

Never understood the fascination with the story in general. Enough here for a full length movie? Meh I think they'll have lots of hearings and meetings and angst about why did he have to land in a river. No thanks.

Huh?
The Miracle on the Hudson was a few years before Flight. It would seem likely that Flight was inspired by the actual event and this movie is an actual telling of the event.
That makes it impossible for this movie to be ripping off Flight.

I remember that airplane landing in the river but I don't remember it being that big of a deal to make a movie about.

It was certainly a big deal, but I've never heard of any controversy surrounding the pilot or anything like that. Nothing meriting a full movie. That's why people assume it'll be like Flight in some way, since the story as we know it seems too thin for a movie.
