Dr. Strange was screened for critics last night. Sounds like the visuals are incredible, but appears that the story is nothing special. Should be another success for Marvel thou.

I didnt see too many complaints calling out the story. Just a lot of love for the cast and that the visuals were top notch.

Kinda weird reading all the gushing but then see them say its not even top 5. I know the MCU has some great movies but is it starting to get hard to crack top 5 already?

I've seen some other tweets not on here that say it's just another run of the mill Marvel story. That's not a bad thing thou, it well works well for them and I have no doubt this will be another winner for them

Probably so. It would have to beat out

Winter Soldier
Iron Man 1
Avengers 1
Guardians of the Galaxy
Civil War

I can see it changing person by person, but those are all fantastic comic book movies.

It will be a good take for Marvel, it changes it up a little bit and gives you some new characters to play with.

I'm ready for Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Cliff Notes:

Good standalone Marvel film, doesn't overlap the other franchises, more in line with the early solo films.

Trippy visuals.

Cumberbatch does his usual job of selling the character well.

Doctor Strange's action set pieces make an MC Escher paintings look tame.

This is the one that makes me want to see it.

Sounds and looks like it's going to be a Nolan, Inception knockoff, nothing special but still entertaining... I feel like they are kind of limited because they want to make a very commercial mainstream movie, but they could've made a very, very interesting great cinematic work, but at the risk of mass box office appeal. Ultimately they chose money.. Can't say I blame them though when a couple hundred million is on the line.

That's a damn strong statement:

Remember when The Matrix made you rethink what was possible in an action sequence? Dr Strange does that 4 or 5 times.

Inception was more of a Dr. strange ripoff than the other way around
