Anyone checking this movie out this weekend? I'm going to see it this evening. I don't think it will be as politically motivated as people think.

Saw it last night. It was fantastic. I didn't get really any political crap out of it.

I didn't either. We just got out. Another really good Pixar film.

Yeah, saw it, and it was yet again another home run by Pixar. It's as good as Finding Nemo, but really different from it as well. While Finding Nemo is more a road trip movie, this is more a journey of self discovery by Dory.
I don't see how the message of this movie is at all political, and it's more about a bizarrely specific type empowerment (what kind of empowerment I'm not going to get into due to spoilers). I totally applaud Pixar for this and they're still the only real studio that has the balls to tell kids the tough realities of life and how they themselves can overcome them.
And yes, Hank the Septopus is just great.

Agreed on all points. My wife and I watched with my 3 year old. He liked it. It really hit home with me. It was a really good film. The whole agenda before the film's release was ridiculous.

I can't stand the idea that political conspiracy nuts have gotten to a point when they're scouring children's movies for material.

I thought that it was a solid Pixar movie, but far from one of their best. Of course, their best is an extremely high bar, so this is a must see.
ETA: asked my daughter where my wife was and she said woooowoooooo to use sonar to find her.

I'm looking forward to it; may not this weekend though to avoid crowds and try to hit in Monday or something

That's also how I feel, but it's also how I feel about Finding Nemo. However there's one demographic (and one that's rarely targeted) that I think will be floored by the movie. If I had to rank the Pixar movies:
1) WALL-E
2) Inside Out
3) Toy Story 3
4) The Incredibles
5) Up
6) Toy Story 2
7) Toy Story
8) Ratatouille
9) Finding Nemo
10) Finding Dory
11) Monsters Inc.
12) A Bug's Life
13) Brave
14) The Good Dinosaur
15) Cars
16) Monsters University
17) Cars 2
And yeah, it's no knock on the film that it's their tenth best film. In fact I was not expecting much of this movie doubting that Dory could hold her own film, but it holds its own and is different from Finding Nemo from the second act on. Pixar's quality is just very high. Only around #12 do I think it starts to drop off.

Was Planes Pixar?
At any rate, did not like.

Technically no. I don't think even Disney felt like they needed to water down prized cow's brand with that.

I thought it was great. Seemed sadder than the first and maybe drags a little at times but definitely a must see. Dory is a great lead but they have a great group around her. The new additions are fun as well. My kids are 9 and 6 and loved it.

This. It was solid but nowhere near the top of the list for Pixar.
