Finally Watching Eastbound and Down

I know I'm way late to the party but Season 1 was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. Season 2 was good. Now I'm having a really hard time getting through Season 3. I know comedy is subjective but I think they went way too over the top with the supporting characters, for starters. The geisha/cannon scene had shark jumping written all over it. It's like it's not even the same show. I'm about halfway through 3. Does it get better?

I haven't watched season 3 or 4.
1 and 2 were great.

the show itself is very overrated and over the top but season 1 is good

The first season is head and shoulders, waist, hips, knees, and ankles above the rest. Damn good.

That's the thing. In the first season he was an outrageous jerk living in something that resembled the real world. His brother was normal. The school seemed like a real school. Putting him in those situations was a big part of why it worked. In 3 everyone is a pill chomping eccentric that can't complete a thought without a dick joke. And Kenny from S1 would have knocked the Russian out the first time he insulted him. For some reason the writers decided he should become a whiny pushover with a baby.

3 is worth watching to get to 4, 3 was the hardest of the 4 seasons to watch but it does have some hilarious parts. I think season 4 runs a close race with season 1.
