This movie seems like a complete Cluster frick..

The acting was good and I kind of almost enjoyed it but there is just so much going on and it switches story lines constantly it can sometimes be hard to keep up.

Wasn't the book a best seller?? Anyone who read the book think it was similar to the movie or what?

I believe the book went in sequence. The slave trader was first, the post-apocalyptic island tribe was last. The movie did jump around alot but I think they attempted to move all the time periods along at the same pace, coming to each's conclusion at the same time

the story was told in parts like a V. slave trader started and ended the book and post-apocalyptic was the middle.

I'm bumping because I just watched this. I did not enjoy the movie at all. Cinematography was great, score was great, good actors but the rest of it was a cluster frick.

It's never a good thing when a movie is over and you have to go to Wikipedia to fill in the details to make some sense of it.

Tom Hanks language was stupid and my wife and I would look at each other and say wtf was he just saying because it was all mumbled.

I like the idea of the movie but the execution of the story telling left a lot to be desired IMO. There was just to much left out to make sense of it.

I mean I had to read Just to figure out where the hell Tom hanks was at the end of the movie and how he got there.
