Yeah, I love the fact that the reason Wick is such a badass is not because he's the biggest, or strongest, or fastest, or most well trained, but that he is possessed of a singular will. Viggo says that early on.
That was actually one of my plot problems. If he's such a badass, why does he just let three guys beat the shite out of him to begin with. He doesn't even fight back. The director should have had one of them draw a gun. Maybe he did, but I didn't see it.
quote:

This is only after he's put a hit on Wick, after Wick has escaped all the traps, after Wick has escaped being killed by another master-assassin, after he has basically shite on Viggo's entire empire, and after Wick has a shotgun pointed at the dude's chest, knowing the whole time that he doesn't really like his son very much since he's a frick up and that Wick, even if Viggo doesn't tell him where his son is, will find him eventually precisely because he knows Wick is possessed of a singular will. When you think about it, Viggo did a shite ton to stop Wick, but realized the inevitable.
I don't care who you are or what the situation is. No parent is just going to offer his kid up like that, especially knowing that he himself will likely be killed in any event. I suppose you could argue that he believed the bodyguards would kill Wick, but a) he could always have lied to him about where his son was and b) after all that had already happened, he had little reason to believe that his son would survive, regardless of how many goons he had around him.

He got all but knocked out with a baseball bat. You might say that he should've been more vigilant being such a bad arse, but he's at home with his guard down.

The fact that the whole thing started because someone killed Wick's dog is fantastic.

It wasn't that they just killed his dog. They killed the last gift from his deceased wife. She bought that puppy specifically to help Wick get through mourning.

The shitty home security of a badass hit man issue is not something I brought up, but good point.

finally saw John Wick
Thought it was great. Good sneaky dialogue throughout and the action scenes were top notch.

Thought it was cool the way they did the subtitle translations for the Russian dialogue.

Sneaky good cast too. And the soundtrack is awesome.

All it needed was bunk and mcnulty to solve the crimes and they would have had the whole gang back together.

John Wick is awesome! This decade's version of Point Blank and Payback.
