I think I liked Wick so much because it kind of blindsided me and I went in with no expectations. I've always considered Keanu total garbage but this role felt perfect for him.

I think it's definitely a film everyone should see once. I liked it so much I had to get it on Blu-Ray

I thought the movie had a really cool atmosphere in some scenes.

A couple times I thought, "this place looks neat, where the hell they shoot this."

Looked it up and saw pretty much everything was in NYC and felt like an idiot. For some reason some of the scenes didn't seem like it at all.

watched it last night on HBO, I enjoyed it as well.

I like when the Russian Mobster called John Leguizamo and asked why he punched his son. "He stole John Wick's car and killed his dog" The mobster just replied "Oh" and was fine with it. At that point I knew Wick was a badass.

I bet that chick didn't think it was worth breaking hotel rules at the end.

I actually thought it was fantastic. One of the better movies that came out recently and, for pretty much a pure action thriller, has a surprising amount of depth of character and world-building all within a relatively short period of time.

I'll go watch Wick 2 in Imax just like I did this one and walk away with an adrenaline boner, I'm sure.

Francis: Are you here on business, sir?
John Wick: Afraid so, Francis.
[pause]
John Wick: Why don't you take the night off?
Francis: Thank you, sir.

I kind of agree with your assessment, at the very least Ritalin is involved. Very speedy, the fight scenes were really good, and the movie was very satisfying as a whole. I'm upset now, that I didn't see it in theaters, and will not make that mistake for the sequel.

Yep, that and the conversation right after between Viggo and Alfie Allen did a great job of setting up him as a badass before he did anything. Nyquist really did a fantastic job as Viggo the mob boss.

That line and the conversation between Wick and the bouncer about his weight loss were great.

I think the best part about John Wick was the fact that Keanu got his arse kicked. Repeatedly. Usually the hero will take a punch here and there and that's it.

Yeah, I love the fact that the reason Wick is such a badass is not because he's the biggest, or strongest, or fastest, or most well trained, but that he is possessed of a singular will. Viggo says that early on.

And to the OP re:
quote:

Dumbest line: "Stand aside. Give me your son."

Oh sure thing, buddy. Go ahead and kill my son.

This is only after he's put a hit on Wick, after Wick has escaped all the traps, after Wick has escaped being killed by another master-assassin, after he has basically shite on Viggo's entire empire, and after Wick has a shotgun pointed at the dude's chest, knowing the whole time that he doesn't really like his son very much since he's a frick up and that Wick, even if Viggo doesn't tell him where his son is, will find him eventually precisely because he knows Wick is possessed of a singular will. When you think about it, Viggo did a shite ton to stop Wick, but realized the inevitable.

Maybe it is a little campy, but it makes sense in the context of the movie, imo.

Agreed. This was just a fun movie. Turn your thoughts off and watch some good action.
