Which one was Norton's better performance? I think Fight Club was the better movie, but Norton was incredible as Derek Vinyard.

Hard to argue with that logic.

The problem with Fight Club is that Pitt outperformed him. In AHX Norton didn't have to compete.

Both were good roles though

That's very true. It's unbelievable how Fight Club was only nominated for one award at the Academy Awards (best sound editing). If anything, Norton and certainly Pitt should have been nominated.

I have seen fight club more and probably like it more but I thought his performance was better in AHX

Agree.

Fight Club is the better movie.
American History X is the better performance.

I think that I agree with this. Derek Vinyard was a more dynamic character I think, so maybe it is just that there was more to get out of that character than the one is Fight Club.

American History X

wins easily in my mind as far as Norton's performance goes.

also, you get to see half the cast of Boy Meets World using the N-word.

Fight Club inspired Papa Roach to write a song, so I have to give it the edge.

The Movie/TV board usually can't handle my logic. I'm not judging it. They're not ready.

American History X is the performance of his career. That movie is absolutely amazing.

I agree with everyone that said Fight Club was better (though not markedly so, IMO, I really liked American History X) but American History X was the better performance by Norton. He was asked to do more and he delivered.

absolutely american history x was his better performance. regardless which movie you enjoy more.

primal fear (one of his first movies, if not first) was also a terrific role for him.

One of my favorite actors. I really can't think of any movies he wasn't good in.

Performance wise, American History X destroys Fight Club.

He was great in Primal Fear. Also like him in The Score. But AHX was the best.

What the frick happened with Norton's career? Now he is just a standard B-list actor who is known as a competent lead, but nothing special. The guy started his career out with Primal Fear, American History X, and Fight Club. He hasn't gotten anywhere close to that in more than a decade.

For real, Moonrise Kingdom is the last thing I saw him in. I think every since being in the Incredible Hulk, it's been an uphill battle to get back on top of his career.
