Supposedly a spiritual successor to Dazed and Confused and also directed by Richard Linklater.

Getting good reviews so far.

90% on RT.

It doesn't look very good, and I wanted it to look good. Plus, it looks like it's set in the very early 80's which were basically still the 70's, and the situations just look like reworked elements from D&C.

I didnt give it much thought, but the early consensus says it's very good.

Looked like it was trying too hard to be Dazed & Confused. I'll still watch it but at this point no interest in seeing it in the theater.

I'll watch it because of Linklater but it doesn't look great.

D&C was just Slacker with a more coherent story.

Also, its not like the D&C previews were all that either.

Considering how good he is at slice of life film making I'm assuming this will be pretty solid.

I think it's just a 'series of events' movie set among a college baseball team in the 80s. Like said above, it'll be heavy on dialogue and slice of life stuff, which is Linklater's wheelhouse. I'll definitely watch. Will it be Dazed and Confused?? Of course not, that's an absolute home run classic that can't be replicated.

Doesn't look like it has an organic Linklater feel.

More like American scripted Pie bad homage feel.

Or worse, any bad coming of age homage and not on the level as Wet Hot American Summer.

That's the story of Linklater's life. He's an Austin kid who played college baseball. So this ought to be at least enjoyable.

The trailer for Dazed and Confused made it look like your basic stoner comedy. Since it turned out to be much more than that, I'll give the benefit of the doubt to this movie.

And since Linklater does so well with baseball movies (Bad News Bears) I give him extra slack.

Plus it has the son of Kurt Russell and grandson of Bing Russell in there, so it has an added baseball pedigree.

Trailer in the theatre just kept referencing dazed and confused. Looks dumb

Take me home tonight is a good 80s type movie. If it was t centered around crybaby gopher it would rank higher.

Ah. Fair enough. He's mister Austin now, at least in the film community. But he did play college ball.
