Thoughts? I watched this for the first time tonight. Easily the scariest sci fi I've ever watched.

"where we're going, we won't need eyes."

I looked away I've found only 2 or 3 sci fi movies to be remotely "scary" and this one just fit the bill for me.

One of the few movies that legitimately freaked me out upon first viewing.

The atmosphere is great.

Very good film.

99.9% of them use cheap jump scare tactics. This one did a good job of getting my mind going. Some of the scenes were truly "what the frick" scenes

The most sinister Sci-Fi movie I have ever seen. Can't believe how much the critics disliked this film.

This is one of the few that stuck with me as disturbing. They did a great job

This is what sphere should have been. Sphere and event horizon have similar premises but they completely screwed up sphere

Agreed, sphere was nowhere near as intense as the book was.

I loved both sphere and event horizon. I can't remember which movie this was, but there was a scene I think on event horizon where the TVs were possessed, flickering images. I recorded the images and slowed them down, they were mostly random images some bodies, but one of the images was a yellow smilie face, I remember that.

I really don't think of this as sci-fi. Sorta like the original Alien movie. Yes, it is set in a futuristic location, but it is pure horror. Kinda gross-out horror too.

paul WS anderson being the director, coming off Mortal Kombat, plays a role in that. the trend was to dislike his films

michael bay gets this. i watched pain and gain yesterday and read the RT reviews. most hated it b/c bay made it. it never had a chance
