Did you not watch the opening scene in Force Awakens? He gave it to Max Von Sydow to hold on planet Arrakis with instructions to hide it from the Harkonnens at all costs.

ETA the quote that I forgot

IMHO the title of VII implies there will be new force users. "The Force Awakens" - the force is manifesting itself throughout the galaxy so more force sensitive people will start appearing and they will have an opportunity to rebuild the Jedi order.

Going off this idea, I don't think Rae's lineage is of any consequence. She isn't related to any of the characters we've already met. Her parents left. That's it. The force manifested itself in her and she is force sensitive now because of this "awakening".

I'd put the chances of that at about 5%.

That's been my theory since I saw the movie. I've never understood why everyone thinks she has to be related to someone important.

The movie was a soft reboot of the franchise. Her origin story was just like Luke's and finding Luke was like Luke finding Yoda. Yoda wasn't his dad but you found out how important his lineage was.

Luke isn't her dad, but he's going to reveal how important her lineage is.

I would hope the story would be more original as the new trilogy goes on. I get the soft reboot approach to the first movie. Episode 1 wasn't done well and they wanted to avoid that with nostalgia insurance. I would hope they didn't continue that approach moving forward.

What about the scene where she finds the lightsaber and the alien women tells hers something like "its calling you. It was your fathers and before that his fathers".

"That lightsaber was lukes and his fathers before him. And now it calls to you."

Don't misquote the movie...

right cause the whole "episode" story line is about the Skywalkers. Fom Anikan to luke/leia to now Ren and Rae.

Was all this revealed when the old man was talking to Poe? I need to re watch this seen with close captioning because I don't remember him saying all that.

What if Rey is Ezra's daughter? (from SW: Rebels)

I haven't seen Rebels.

I've seen Clone Wars, which is epic. A show made for kids, but written for all star wars fans. It's just more star wars content, and it's the content that is at arguably the most interesting point in the universe between episode 1 and 6. The last season was DARK.

How is Rebels?

So you don't think, like Empire, one of the best movies ever made, Rey is going to train with Luke, then find Kylo, then fight Kylo, and at some point have her mind blown about her heritage?

Because I fully expect it and am extremely excited for both Rogue 1 and Ep VIII.

Why do you think Kylo and Snoke have both been searching for a girl. It was kind of a major point made multiple times in the movie.

What I think is more appealing and the differentiating factor is Kylo. So far, he's everything Anakin should've been in the prequels. Raw, powerful, conflicted, intense, emotional. His story line is far from over.

Of course, follow the OT, he is going to be the one to kill Snoke, with help from Rey who will remind him of the light side like Luke did Vader.

I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

Kylo's loyalty was in question and he needed something to prove it.

I believe Luke trained Kylo to infiltrate the First Order in order to get to Snoke and Han was probably in on the plan.

I think the first order would scrap the whole death star plan at this point since it never works.
