I know you all are sick of discussing this. But I finally saw it, and feel like talking about it.

So right out of the gates it is pretty awesome. Almost like a James Bond type beginning. Then the music kicks in and I'm really digging it because I think it is going to have a Tron kind of feel to it with the music.

I thought the cast was good, the story was kind of cool. The robberry scene was pretty epic, I was literally short of breath when they were in the pawn shop.

I could have really done with out all the long drawn out scenes. It had a very "Lost in Translation" type of feel with those 30 sec camera shots where all it is is someone staring at something. It got really distracting. At one point the woman and Gosling were just staring at each other and it was started getting almost uncomfortable.

Also, the music just didn't pan out for me, it would be cool in one scene, and bizarre in another.

And the dialogue could have been a lot better. Brooks, Cranston and Pearlman were the only saving graces in that dept.

I'm about 50/50 on it. 2.5 out of 5 stars for me.

***Spoilers below***

And the movie could have made up for just about everything if it had just had the dude and the chick ride off together at the end. I'm not one of those goobers who needs the cowboy to ride off in the sunset with the woman in every movie, but dammit, it sure would have helped this one out a lot.

And I get why he had to leave the money, no issue with that. Although I likely would have taken it...like a lot earlier.

Seriously? I don't know how you can believe that. You need to watch The Room for an example of one of the worst movies ever made.

Basically this. It's one of those movies where I think it's absolutely amazing, but I can't recommend it to any friends because they'll think it's a piece of shite.

The elevator scene is what really made me realize how much I loved the movie. Slow and powerful

Exactly the movie was slow and subtle, so when he finally snatches down a shower curtain rod and slams it through a guys neck or stomps a guys entire skull in with his boot, it's much more powerful than if he was just guns blazing from the first scene

Drive is one of the most polarizing movies on this board.

I don't think people understood it fully or weren't patient enough with it. I loved it, but I can understand how people wouldn't.

I love art like this because it celebrates the mundane in modern life. Is life really filled with dramatic events every step of the way? Or do you encounter mundane events like staring at a computer screen or the ocean for a hour? Or an awkward dinner conversation.
