Cliffs
Hates that it was universally hated after putting hours of "work" into it
Did the best he could but "dropped the dragonball"
Took the project hoping for a big pay day but was not a fan of the anime
Lacked passion for the project
Hopes to make it up to you...by you supporting his current and future projects that he is passionate about
Says sorry for butchering your dreams of a live animated DBZ universe

A live action DBZ would never work

I don't think so either. It was a horrible interpretation, but it was destined to be cheesy crap. The silliness and action is best translated to animation.

Yeah. And is the kamehameha wave ever gonna look not-goofy with CGI?

I doubt it.

We will never really know IMO. I think it had a chance if done right.

Depends on the creativity and vision of the director along with the leniency of the viewer. As a 100% direct adaptation I agree it would bust.

However give it that Chrisopher Nolan realistic/modernized touch and it could make it fresh to the viewer + real martial artist castings

try not to nail every detail like blue highlights or goku's goofy hair

As far as fight scenes

IP Man, Ong Bak, Crouching Tiger etc have visually stunning martial art sequences. Push that envelope further with a great choreographer and rely less on CGI and wires. They were great fighters that initially could have been mistaken for typical elite martial artists.

Mortal Kombat is obviously dated but managed to capture the essence of the fighting game in a similar fashion based on the game at that time.

Dragonball would require brutal laborous physical shoots but with enough effort and editing you could capture the fact that these are elite level fighters that may not be normal.

I think it could be done. This is an independent fan film and it's light years better than DB Evo. The CGI needs work, but imagine if a great, passionate director got a hold..If JJ Abrams or Nolan were DB fans.
