There has always been a few things that have bothered me about the time line of FG.

First off, Apple's first IPO was in April, 1980. The time line of FG puts it somewhere around 1975-76.

The day he started running, President Carter falls out from heat exhaustion. That happened on Sept 24,1979. So if he ran for 3 year, 2 months, & 14 days, he would have finished running Dec. 8, 1982, after Jenny's death in March of '82.

While he is waiting on the bus (as he narrates the movie) you can see an ad for a 1981 car.

The Runner's Digest magazine Jenny shows him is dated Sept 1978, and he already has a long beard and road wear.

Think of all the sex you could have had in the time it took you to figure all that out.

It's a pretty sloppy movie.

The book is even worse.

I'm more bothered by a timeline where The Hangover could be considered the funniest movie of all time.

But the "crossing the Mississippi for the second time today" portion of his run didn't bother you?

Do you really have so much time on your hands that you're able to hyper-scrutinize a film timeline like that? This has never once crossed my mind.

You thought that meant the second time in one day? The reporter was really saying "Today, he's crossing the river for the second time." Meaning the first time he crossed it was on another day.

That's what I thought the OP was gonna bitch about.

I never thought too much about the timeline because the whole story is a fable. It's a country bullshitter sitting on a park bench telling lie after life to whomever will listen, but the stories contain basic truths about how decent people can accidentally have big impacts on other people's lives.

Couldn't care less about the timeline. Relax, it's just a movie.

Why would I use my energy to be that anal retentive about a movie features a man with either a learning disability or high functioning ASD?

Does it expressly state that they invested in the IPO? Could have been a private placement prior to the IPO.

It's a retard telling a forty year long story, you don't think he's gonna frick up some details?

Honestly it would be weirder if the timeline was airtight. Like he could barely read but knew exactly the day that Carter fell out, that's dumb and your dumb for this thread.

The only thing I have ever thought of is how much of a whore and all around terrible person Jenny was.

if the timeline bothered you, then im sure you're bothered that the same guy overcame both his physical and mental handicaps to become buds with Elvis and John Lennon, meet 3 presidents, All-American football player, army veteran and hero, world class ping pong player, world renowned long distance runner, shrimp boat captain, and millionaire business owner and investor.... seems pretty far fetched amirite
