Does Shameless stay awesome or does it get repetitive?

I've watched the first 6 episodes and it's hilarious and crazy. Does that continue or does the constant someone does something so they hatch a plan to fix it while Frank gets wasted plot get tired after awhile?

I would say it gets less funny and more tragic as the seasons go on, although the first few seasons are pretty fantastic. We're still watching, but it goes from being really, really funny to really, really depressing, usually in the same episode.

They manage to keep changing the crazy events, and you really see what addiction and mental disorder does to a family.

i quit that shite after a few seasons, it was already super repetitive. the only character i gave a shite about was lip, and frank gallagher was/is one of the most annoying characters on tv.

Frank is hilarious

Lip is one of the better characters but honestly Frank carries the show. Carl also has stepped up lately to become a big part of the show once he started wanting to be a cop. Debbie and Ian are terrible characters honestly. Ian's old boyfriend was one of the best characters on the show so I think the show kinda misses that element. He was the perfect white trash frickup.

Franks the most interesting character on the show. He's a terrible father, he's a drunk, he's anti government, he's a scheming sleazeball, he will do anything that keeps himself from working an actual job. Also, at times he seems to want to be a dad and have a heart but Frank needs to be a frickup. It's all he knows how to be. I enjoy Franks antics and the creativeness they use in his schemes. He cracks me up and he's also played by a great actor. imo

It kinda goes off the rails later in the series but I still find it entertaining.. oh yea, and Emmy Rossum's boobs.

I watched all 4 seasons on Netflix and don't regret finishing it. They are so dysfunctional it makes me uneasy but that's part of the fun of it for me.

I have not decided if I want to pay for the other seasons available though. I think amazon has them online which I use with my Amazon TV.

Frank is without a doubt the centerpiece but the whole family is a wreck.

The first few seasons are awesome and don't really ever get tiring. The later season are still really good but it does become more depressing as it goes on and it seems that no matter how many times something good happens to most of the characters, someone equally bad happens shortly after making it somewhat repetitive.

I just finished season 6 & really enjoyed it. It's a constant cycle of crazy scenarios but they do a good job of switching up who is involved so it doesn't get too stale. With the exception of Liam, everyone is a giant f*ck up so you are just waiting on them to ruin whatever good fortune they have. William H. Macy does an amazing job as Frank.

Kevin is the man though!

Exactly. I used to love it, and I love dark tv/movies, but it just became too depressing.

It's white trash dark, not Cormac McCarthy dark

Some minor spoilers in here.

Lip is me age at 16-22. Monica freaks me out. There are lots of ebbs and flows and they keep it interesting. Even Mickey Milkovich grows on you.

Most shows would run,out of stuff and get stale by this point, but they keep adding enough new characters and situations to keep it Interering. I thought the most recent two seasons were really good.
