Does Boardwalk Empire get better after season 1?

I watched season 1 this past week and thought it was ok, but im not necessarily aching to finish it immedietally.
a coworker of mine says it's great, but im not getting it.
For some reason i dont really like Steve Buscemi as Nucky. it seems like he is phoning in the performance. i like the acting of the other characters, but not Nucky.

yeah, he has been introdeced, but other than following Jimmy around killing a couple people, he hasn't been involved too much.

I honestly haven't had any interest to keep watching it after Season 2. Nucky just pisses me off too much, I think Steve Buscemi was miscast.

buscemi nailed that shite. alot of other good performances also. its worth it to watch just to see gyp. capone in the last season was money.

Yeah, it's a great show but Season 3 was unbelievably great. The guy who played Rosetti was practically perfect....can't imagine a better performance than him during that season.

It was definitely hit or miss through mid Season 3 - I didn't keep up after that.
I need to go back and catch up, for sure. I though the first season, overall, was the best of the almost 3 I watched.
