I've enjoyed every Marvel and most of the newer DC films. I own most of them on Blu-ray, except Ant Man because I keep forgetting to buy it.

However, I have never been into the shows like Flash, Green Arrow, Agents of Shield. Supergirl is literally the shittiest show I've ever watched on television.

I did like Daredevil.

I'm not all that into comics, but I know the basics of much of the story arcs. If they don't follow one big time result from Civil War, and I don't think they will, I may be done.

I'm no fan either which is why I was surprised to have enjoyed Daredevil as much as I did. Great series.

Yes, the Marvel TV shows have been very good. Watch Jessica Jones next, it's a terrific show.

I have zero interest in any of them. I have seen The Dark Knight and that's about it. Seems like every new trailer that comes out is some stupid superhero I've never heard of.

I don't give much of a rat's arse about them. I liked the Chris Nolan Batman trilogy enough. Other than that, I haven't been that interested in comics since I was a kid.

They don't interest me at all... but they are making a shite ton of money so they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

they're fun summer popcorn flicks to watch with my son.

That seems cool, but not my situation.

I'm with you. I can't stand any of this comic book super hero crap. So tired of it.

The have the same issue as many movies. The concept is often good, but the execution is terrible because they dumb it down to mouth breathing idiot level. I think they keep it on a retard level to appeal to the foreign audiences who may not get it otherwise.

Someone compared them to western movies. In a few years, there will be no superhero movies... but that will be like 10 years from now

Being that I read comics as a kid, I am really enjoying this time seeing my favorite comics from childhood come to life.

If I hadn't read comics so heavily in the past, I wouldn't care nearly as much.

That being said, this week I caught up on Marvel movies by watching The Winter Soldier, The Avengers 2 and Ant Man

Guardians, Ant Man and the Winter Soldier are easily the best Marvel movies. The rest are meh at best.

Who thinks that?

People often say "great" because they love it, not because they think Winter Soldier is as deep and evocative as Nostalghia.

do you really have an issue with it? I don't really care how another individual chooses to view a film

I care for them. I like all Marvel shows and movies. Like the DC movies, but really only a fan of The Flash on tv as far as DC goes.

I do not care for zombies, vampires, reality tv and crime shows. At least the vampires have died out.

I do wish they would make a deeper dive into some of the more unique corners of the comic book universe. I think we could have an awesome Lazarus or Nowhere Men film, and people wouldn't even know its a "comic book movie". Something like Ed Brubaker's spy stuff (like Incognito or Fatale) would be real interesting on the big screen, and could be self-contained.

I do feel that people say the MCU films are formulaic a lot, but I don't see it quite to the same degree. In fact, their films that deviate from the formula are the ones people dislike the most. Iron Man 3 is a study of PTSD, and barely even has Iron Man in it, it's a Tony Stark film. Thor 2 is a zany buddy comedy, right down to a final sequence straight out of Scooby Doo. Heck, half of Ultron is just the Avengers hanging out. People WANT the formula, despite what they say. When the MCU gets creative and plays with expectations, as they have done, the howls of protest are deafening.

But, seriously, get to making Captain Marvel. And Ms. Marvel.

The darker stuff is entertaining. The overblown (pun intended) over acted, full of cheezy one liners type comic book movies make me want to stick toothpicks under my toenails and kick a brick wall.

I actually find the Netflix Marvel series, DD and JJ, better than the movies. They are darker and grittier. The movies seem like fluff in comparison

The people criticizing the formula aren't the same people who want it. These movies have a large audience who just want a simple action movie. They appeal to a wide base of the population. The people who critique how formulaic most of these movies are, are not really fans of any of these franchises. The actual fans of the franchises are the ones who don't want anything wild thrown at them. So of course the movies that depart from what they expect are the most criticized.

For example, I find most super hero movies to be formulaic. I didn't even bother to see those movies that you mentioned departed from the norm because who bothers to see movies that they strongly suspect they will find uninteresting?
