....When it plays stuff like "Iron Monkey," starring Chow Yun Fat and the always talented Seann William Scott?

I'm in a hotel and this caught my eye, like wtf?

Nope. Whenever I see a movie I don't like playing, I call DirecTV and tell them to cancel my HBO subscription for 2 hours.

I got a year of HBO for free for switching to U-verse and have been disappointed in the variety of movies that are played. It seems like it's the same rotation of about 10 movies over and over again, and usually only about 2 or 3 are any good. Game of Thrones is probably the only reason I'll consider keeping it when the promotion expires.

I was in a hotel last week and aside from their original programming, the rest looked like shite.

I've heard there is a lot of on and off with subscriptions. Basically getting HBO for the half of the year they have original programming people want to watch and cancelling it the rest of the time.

bingo. Shows like Sopranos and True Crime are what keep me as a subscriber. You are correct about the same shitty movie line up and redundancy. If the original programming disappears, I'll drop HBO in a heart beat. For me its all part of the package of cable/web services though.

also, to a lesser degree, people pay for it b/c they want to view movies and original programming uncensored and w/o commercial interruption.

HBO is just about the only reason to have cable at all. If it weren't for HBO and sports I wouldn't have it at all.

Am I the only one that caught that you are talking about Bulletproof Monk?

Iron Monkey, on the other hand, is a really good kung fu flick from the early 90s.

I wouldn't pay for anything that puts money in Bill Maher's pocket.
