I was lucky enough to watch django last night and I must say, Quentin does it again.

Christoph waltz gives another Oscar worthy performance, except this time he's actually the"good guy". Samuel L Jackson was pretty damn good as well.

this movie also has a excellent soundtrack, not really what you'd expect from a "western"

PS. - I don't know what the record is for the most N-bombs in a movie is, but django might have set a new one.

All in all, it's another well-directed and superbly-acted Tarantino film. Of you're a fan of his, you won't be disappointed

I've already decided to ditch my family christmas afternoon and settle down in a theater chair to have my throat punched by this movie.

So excited. I went and saw Pulp Fiction in theaters last night and it was a religious experience.

if it is anything like the songs on the trailers, I'm not really excited about the soundtrack...

From what Im hearing the

Walton Goggins character "Billy Crash" is the Hugo Stiglitz of this movie.

Meaning a character who has a small role you kind of wish had more screen time.

Do we think this movie will appeal to the

White teenager/Ghetto black people crowd?

I am hoping to be able to go to a late viewing, and enjoying it without any ignorance.

What about electric guitar in Ennio Morricone's work in Leone movies?

I saw the movie with the OP and echo his sentiments. Waltz was great as usual and Leo really surprised me, as odd as that sounds because he's one of my favorite actors, in his portrayal of Messieur Candie - the decadent Southern plantation owner.

I'll also add that I was really impressed with Jamie Foxx as Django. I heard an interview this week where Tarantino said his first choice for the role was Will Smith. But after sitting down with Smith and watching him read the script and his reactions, he felt Smith couldn't pull off the "angry slave" persona of the Django character and opted for Foxx. His decision paid off in spades (SWIDT) because Foxx was fantastic.

The shootouts, scenery, dialogue and soundtrack are everything you'd expect and more with a Tarantino film. I highly recommend.

As for this:

It'll be interesting to see certain crowd reactions if white folk laugh as much as we did to certain portions of the dialogue.

damn you guys stole my thunder for a spoiler free review post.

anyways, I'd rate this movie slightly above Inglorious Basterds. Really fricking good. I'll probably go see it twice.

I feel that it was the first time QT responded to his critics in terms of the way he handles violence. On one hand you had scenes where he thrills you with over the top Kill Bill slaughters and on the other there was some shite that really makes you grimace. Smart move.

edit: be back in 3 months
