I think Will Smith is a good choice. It is a song heavy role after all.

One of the quirks of Robin Williams' Genie was his ability to do impressions of other actors. From my memory, the character imitated Rodney Dangerfield, Jack Nicholson, and at least two others as part of the animation.
Will Smith is not a good impressionist, which is why Dave Chappelle or Keegan Michael Key would be a better choice.
The best pure choice, of course, is Seth MacFarlane.

One of the criticisms of Robin Williams' performance in Aladdin is that his impressions date the movie too much. For instance, how many people under 20 or even 30 know who in the hell Arsenio Hall is?
My guess is Will Smith will be instructed to stay away from celebrity impressions.
The ones I remember Williams doing from the movie are Hall, Jack Nicholson, Ed Sullivan, Jimmy Carter, Robert Diniro, Rodney Dangerfield, Peter Lorre...any others?
