he said that Hollywood is finding it harder than ever for original ideas,

Harder to find original ideas within the same pool of directors? Harder to find someone who let's the studio execs throw them around and shite on their idea for the sake of being PC?

Or is this lack of original ideas because of the ridiculous PC culture?

According to Variety, the Pitch Perfect actor will take on one of the leads in a contemporary retelling that will see two female con artists, one high-class, the other low-rent, try to scam a tech prodigy out of his fortune.

Wilson is also set to produce alongside Roger Birnbaum, who has been behind the remakes of RoboCop, in 2014, and The Magnificent Seven, due for release in September. Wilson is also attached to a remake of the Goldie Hawn comedy Private Benjamin. The original Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin as two competing conmen working on the French Riviera. It was itself a remake of the 1964 comedy Bedtime Story, starring Marlon Brando and David Niven. It was also adapted into a successful musical, starring John Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz.

It marks the second gender-swapped remake to be announced this week, after news hit that Channing Tatum would be playing a mermaid in a new version of Splash.

Why? I mean, that concept could work, but the women have to be hot or else it doesn't make sense. This concept doesn't make sense with Rebel Wilson AT ALL!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the original. That being said, I can see Catherine Zeta Jones making a good Michael Cain.

At some point, Gone With The Wind will be remade. You know that it is coming down the pipe.

Also, Bedtime Story was released in 1964. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was released in 1988. This new remake won't be out until 2017 at the earliest (w/2018 more likely) which means there is a longer break between the second remake (29-30 years) from the first remake (24 years).

Uncle Buck and Ghostbusters.

Uncle Buck was cancelled after a few episodes. Ghostbusters will barely break even at best. Add in the Point Break, Red Dawn, Robocop, and Total Recall remakes that all bombed and you have to wonder why Hollywood keeps thinking remakes are a good idea. The gender/race swap remakes aren't popular with audiences either.

Is this like the new trend in Hollywood, feminist lift leg and piss all over our culture?

Pretty simply this. Don't like the idea then don't watch it. Then it won't affect your life. And you can live in your little bubble where your favorites are untouched.

I don't understand why people get so pissy with remakes.

They take time and funds away from studios that should be making original or better movies.

So what you are saying is the Steve Martin/Micheal Caine Dirty Rotten Scoundrels should have never been made in the first place yes?
