Did Sam Worthington sell his soul to Satan?
Posted by OMLandshark on 7/25/15 at 7:40 pm32
Because I can see no other reason why this guy is in Hollywood in the first place. He's a simply shite actor and I really have no idea how he got to the point of starring in the highest grossing film of all time... Actually, I do, and it's because he sold his soul to Satan to star in the highest grossing film of all time. Really, what else could it be? All his films since then have fricking bombed and he's box office poison.
I found out that Chris Pratt was one of the finalists to portray Sully in Avatar, and he would have been fricking perfect for the part, but instead they give it to one of the worst actors I can think of. I've seen about 5 of his films, and I have yet to see a film where I haven't rolled my eyes several times during his performance. I remember being bewildered when they were putting him at equal billing as Christian Bale in Terminator 4, just really wondering who the frick this guy is to stand up on the same platform as Christian Bale.
Now his career is completely dependent on Avatar sequels, and while I'm sure some director may give him a remote chance after the next few Avatar films are released, he's doomed to go back to Katherine Heigl status because he's not interesting and a crappy actor.

I liked him in Clash of the... Oh wait nope. He was solid in Termin... shite, wrong again. His takedown of Ares was epic in Wrath..
You know what? You're right. He is a soulless, filthy rich, shite sammich

Some actors are hot for a while. I'm guessing he has a great agent who got him all these high profile movies at the same time before people saw he couldn't act.

He's pretty close do being off the map. He hasn't been in anything big for awhile. You should be asking this about Jai Courtney.
ETA: I mean, he'll be in the Avatar sequels, but I doubt he'll be in anything else.

Jake Gyllenhaal would have been a solid choice for Avatar

Gyllenhaal would be a great choice for anything. The guy is a great actor and is on top of the world right now

I remember some hailing him as the next big action star.

No. His parents sold their souls to have a good looking kid.

No way his soul is that valuable.

To be fair, which actor is making those movies good or even shining in the abyss of those films?

I liked Clash for what it was. It's not like the original is some cinematic masterpiece with tour de force performances.
Wrath however.... That was one of the worst movies I've ever seen in a theater. Not sure how that (or his other bombs) could be pinned on him since the script was total trash.
shite, Arnold was huge forever and it's not like his acting is any better. He just got better scripts to work with.

I agree he is a terrible actor. He makes all of his films intolerable. I also agree that Chris Pratt would have been boss in Avatar. Love that guy.

I really liked The Debt, but he didn't really show any major chops.
quote:Yep. That's usually the case. He probably let some producer frick his a-hole.

You know what Worthington's worst problem is?
His American accent is absolute dogshit.
He sounded pretty Australian during his voice over work portraying an American soldier in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
But his accent sucked arse in Avatar, too.

I heard that the reason Worthington was in terminator was because Hollywood wanted to get his name out there before Avatar dropped.

Personally glad the other actors weren't chosen for Avatar...they are way too talented for that crap.

Avatar is one of the most overrated movies ever.

I agree. And they're making more?
