LINK

Spoliers obviously

quote:

“My character really is like an ex-warrior who’s become a peacenik, so I have a group of peaceful … sort of a cult who … I bring back a much-loved character who everybody thinks is dead.”

McShane has rung that “I bring someone back from the dead” bell before, but the details on his character are new. I don’t know if McShane believes he’s fooling people into thinking he’s somehow related to Jon Snow’s return, but we all know by now he’s talking about someone else. He’s talking about Arya’s old pal the Hound.

Here's the link to the article:

SPOILERS!!!!!

Fwiw I think he will be awesome in the role, if it actually is what that article alludes to. I didn't picture the character that way, but he would lend a real weight to the character. And of course his voice is perfect for it.

Man I cannot wait to see his interactions with the main character he deals with

SPOILER QUESTION BELOW:

Is anyone else surprised that he says he'll only be in one episode? Assuming I read that correctly.

Seems like his finding, saving, and reforming of SC would be a multiple episode arc, if not season long.

Does that make anyone else think maybe it isn't that character after all?

*SPOILERS*

I'm not sure what it is supposed to be spoiling - FWIW, book readers were never convinced of anything more than the metaphorical death of The Hound (with a high probability that Sandor Clegane yet lived) - and this makes sense with the parallel of his brother becoming "less" human, Sandor likely to reappear as "more" human.

And if it is Jon Snow - the television show foreshadowed what will happen in the book - at least for me. I was one of those readers who was convinced that Jon wasn't going to die, regardless of how we last saw him. Now - I'm convinced he has to die - in order for him to be relieved of his oath. Death isn't always permanent - as we have seen many times in ASOIAF - so it will be interesting what happens in Season 6, as they're working off Martin's outline for the major characters, rather than the finished novel chapters.

For a switch the show will spoil the novel - interesting times, indeed.

Not sure if you are following it. We aren't talking about Snow here.

And really - the foreshadowing in the novels has been beyond dripping with this. The scenario is obvious - Cersei demands trial by combat, she picks Robert Strong. The Sparrows pick the big gravedigger. No reason to deviate from this in the show, with how popular Sandor was.

Did the High Sparrow pick the gravedigger already? It has been a while since I read what happened in the book, but I thought all that happened was the High Sparrow told Cersei there would still be a trial. I always thought everyone just assumed it would be by combat with Robert Strong as her champion and somehow the Hound would be back because of all the references to people seeing him.

Woops, I just reread what you posted and said the foreshadowing of the scenario.

(Most) Readers have been under this assumption for a long time. Because of the foreshadowing, I would be shocked if it comes out any other way. Of course, Cersei's end is pretty much set, as well. The "how" that comes about is still uncertain. For whatever reason, I believe she prevails at the trial - or will appear to have, at least initially. They're not going to execute her for her crimes, for sure.

I have a specific theory - Ser Strong wins the challenge and Arya, somehow, kills Ser Strong, afterwards, both because he's on the list and to avenge Sandor.

As for what happens to Cersei - that's for another thread.
