If they did, someone would complain that Hollywood liberals were glorifying Islam and whitewashing the worst parts. I can hear it now: "Why can't they make a show about Christians?"

Well, they did, and you bitched about it. Can't win with some folks.

I enjoyed it. I agree the end was anticlimactic, but I thought it nailed its main themes of loss, pain and suffering and the effects of doubt. It was beautiful shot, soundtrack kills it, and it had great acting. All in all it is one of my favorite recent shows.

One thing The Young Pope reminded me of is that James Cromwell is great at playing a dickhead.
