No talk about the mentioning of David Harbour as well? I thought he was awesome in Stranger Things. That casting works for me.

No. Shannon didn't understand the character AT ALL.
Zod is supposed to be a bad arse who KNOWS he's a bad arse and keeps his cool. He doesn't shout, lose his temper, or have to yell and remind people how tough he is. Zod is a cool, confident, cold, calculating villian.
Shannon was, apparently, just doing a terrible Will Ferrell impersonation.

I blame that a bit more on the direction than the acting. What if Snyder told him to yell the whole time?
