Everything from DC since 1986 has been a publicity stunt. Some last longer than others, but they've all been temporary "fixes".

While I don't like Gordon taking over the Batman mantle, I do kind of like the idea of Lois spilling the beans on the Clark identity. I think they could go in a couple of interesting directions with that. They could go with her doing it because she is jealous of his relationship with Wonder Woman, or she says something on air accidentally, or someone convinces her it is for the public's best interest which turns out to be false and she now has to live with the guilt of outing him. Have they said yet why she reveals his identity? I think it would actually be interesting to see how the public would deal with Clark once they know his secret, and the consequences it has on his life. Seeing how he's usually portrayed as the beacon of hope for humanity, would that change once the public could put a real name and face to Superman?

With that said thought, I don't think I'd care too much for him going around fighting crime in jeans and a hoodie.

The problem with giving up the Clark Kent identity is that, at some point, they'll want it back. So you either wait for another company-wide reboot, or you go the Peter Parker route and have Satan alter reality.
