What did yal think of it?

I thought it had solid foundation, potential and the songs were good but it never all came together. They didn't go deep enough into Tommy Sweet and Bad Blake's relationship. Did yal think he was his son or was that just me? Did yal think Blake was just a bitter drunk and Sweet never did anything wrong or was there more to it?

I actually thought Colin Ferrell was pretty good in that role but his singing was painful. Bridges and Gyllenhaal were real legit in their roles as well.

What did everyone else think?

why was bad so bitter toward tommy? jealousy? seems like tommy was always willing to help him.

I didn't think Tommy was his son. Bad Blake tried to call his son at one point and he wouldn't talk to him.

It was a good movie, enjoyed it.

I really liked it, but it definitely had its flaws.
Great acting all the way around.

Sweet definitely wasn't his son, just a protege.
Sweet may have done something to screw him over, but they didn't elaborate.
I think it was really just a statement on the bitterness that arises when the pretty boy fake country artist with less talent becomes more successful.

And I didn't think Farrell's singing was that bad.

I enjoyed it. Thought it was a little slow, but good movie overall.

At first I thought it was his son, but not so much as the movie went on. Seemed like Blake was bitter because of Sweet's success but mostly embarrassed. Sweet grew up with Blake as his idol and looking up to him, and now he's a broke drunk and needs help from Sweet.

The music was bad IMO, and I'm a big country music fan.

Are you referring to the entire soundtrack, or just Farrell and Bridges' singing?
The soundtrack is great, IMO.

I was enjoying it kind of then after it was over I was thinking, Wow nothing really seemed to happen. It was entertaining but never seemed to go anywhere.

They could have explained their conflict a little more. Overall it was a solid movie, with great acting. Pretty much "The Wrestler" with a little happier ending.
