If you resort to kicking a person when he's down for laughs, it's pretty pathetic. Damn Facebook people.

I didn't know that "really" was an acceptable form of counter argument.

I am starting to like the idea that Jon Snow will be brought south to Lady Stoneheart. I was recently reminded that, in the show, Melisandre went to visit the Band of Brothers and learned of Thoros' resurrection powers. It would really bring the story of Cat and Jon full circle for her to give Jon her remaining life force.

Of course, Jon will have warged into Ghost, so that has to be factored in some how.

I feel like it has to be Mel to bring him back. She's at the wall in the show and the book.

I was hoping they'd surprise us with LSH in the show, but they didn't. I feel like Sansa will take that part up leading the BWB and uniting the North.

If the book comes out before season 6 then I'd be confident in Jon being on the show. I'm worried they may try to pull something with him not in S6 and coming back S7, but it seems they'd have to disregard the Wall story line if they do that.

I'm hoping S6 opening with Ghost walking around Jon, and some big craziness between the "for the watch" group and everyone else

Assuming (as I think almost everyone does), that Jon Snow is dead but not permanently dead, the question is what does his storyline look like going forward?

Jon has to die to be shed of his NW vows to open up his character for other arcs. I think that if the Wall is going to fall (and it pretty much has to, I would guess, to put the kingdom at peril from the White Walkers) then I’d think it falls either while Jon is dead or if he leaves the wall after his resurrection.

He might not have a choice but to leave if the NW somehow “revokes his membership” because he spent some time dead (sounds like the bit from Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy where HotBlack Desiato spent a year dead “for tax reasons”). Or maybe Ramsey recaptures Sansa and Jon, the Wildlings and other Northern forces march on Winterfell for that reason.

It’s actually kinda cool not knowing exactly how things will play out.

At 51:09 in Season Two, The Night Lands, when Jon Snow goes to see what Craster does with his boys, you can clearly hear a whispering in the woods that says "Valar Morghulis".

Does the Wall have to fall? Or does it lose its magic if the Watch falls apart?

Pure awesomeness. And that's what scares me about the Fat Man, I don't want another favorite book series of mine to be left open because the author died before finishing, although I'm not sure if Adams truly had an end in sight with the increasingly misnamed Hitchhiker trilogy"

I'm guessing the Horn of Winter will be used to take it down.

But you would think that the Others would have to do is take boats or swim around the wall.

This is problematic for me. The Others do seem to have some degree of sophistication/civilization with armor and weapons (though those are apparently "ice" weapons). It does not seem like boat building or at least use would be beyond their capacity.

They seem to be just as intelligent as humans (on the show definitely, but also in the books to some extent). Like you said, they have the knowledge to wear armor. Building boats shouldn't be that difficult of a feat for them.

This is a disconnect - the books are more explicit about supernatural stuff, while the tv show has been more demure - but, clearly The Others (WW) are wholly supernatural beings - and part of that is bound up in whatever "magic" is incorporated in The Wall to stop them. In the show, they absolutely stopped at the water's edge - whether for dramatic effect or not, it appears that crossing large bodies of water or salt water is not an option for them or their wights/zombies.

I don't think that's the issue - obviously they've had the opportunity to capture boats before and haven't done so.

(ETA: Recall that in the books that Coldhands couldn't even travel through one of the gates in the wall at the Nightfort.)
