I got banned for harassing non-readers after the Red Wedding. Got unbanned about a week and a half later after the season was done though.

Because they hate to have fun and use brainpower.

Seriously though, I'm so glad I took the time to read the books. ASOIAF is my favorite book series and the books are woven together so well that you can reread the books or certain chapters and find things you never knew before.

And the books aren't hard to read; they're detailed and written well but it's not like George wrote the series in Shakespearean language.

My dad loves the show, but he's pretty convinced the books are like this.

Most of my friends who are Hodors are the same way. "Oh the books must be written as if someone from the 1600s wrote it!!"

You get my point though.

They assume that since the series is set in a somewhat similar Middle Ages fantasy setting that it's going to sound like the book was written 800 years ago.

It's the most thought provoking fantasy I've ever read. I think about it all the time, and this is coming from a Season One proud Hodor and someone who's never seen LOTR.

I was a Season 1 and Season 2 Hodor. Didn't get into the books until right before S3 last year.

I could NEVER get into LOTR or The Hobbit. I tried reading them both when I was 14 and gave up. The movies never appealed to me either and haven't seen them in probably 10 years. The characters in ASOIAF, IMO, are on a whole different level than Tolkien's were. They have very human, relatable qualities and aren't these immortal, ethereal sort of characters that are present in Tolkien's series. And I love that no character is safe from being killed and that he flips all of the preconceived fantasy tropes. It's amazing how much I care for the minor characters in the series too and how they leave significant marks. Even Hodor has me wondering about his backstory and all he says is Hodor .

I know the middle one is Blackwater; not sure about the rest. Is the last one Osha and Rickon heading to Skagos?

2. Davos being knighted/made a lord.
3. The Blackwater
4. Davos meets Manderly at White Harbor, do you see the head and hands?
5. Davos ship with black sails approaching Skaggos with Osha and Rickon and Shaggydog watching on from the shore.

I'm sorta the same way. I always saw this thread pop up and was wondering, wtf is ASOIAF? Google and realized it was GoT but the books. Wanted to read the books before watching the show but had just started The Millinium Trilogy. So when I had finished it I was about to start reading AGoT but got hooked on watching BB. Long story short caught up with BB through stream sites and was thinking of something else to start watching and after two straight days I was caught up on GoT. Season 3 was two weeks away, and I had just got paid so bought the TPB box set then the hardback ADwD and was done by mid July of last year. No longer a Hodor. Then just couldn't read anything else because of all y'all's damn theories so started my reread and note taking.
