Robb is one of the few characters im pretty positive is really dead.
I don't actually believe my crackpot theory the attitude of Raynald and the fact that Jaime goes to great pains to point out that his body was never found seemed interesting.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I swear I read that Robb actually chose honor over love. He bedded Jeyne while at the Crag, and since he took her maidenhead, he had no choice but to marry her.
He chose her honor over his own, thus love. Ned also made this choice to spare his children. Jon is really the first in his line to make the different choice of honor over love, but he still paid for it in the end.

I think the body not being found has more to do with his family helping the Lannisters than him being worried about something.
And I agree with the statement that Robb is dead. I just don't see a reason to bring him back and stunt the story of Rickon's rise and rage and Bran's warging power. I think Robb dying was a way to eliminate some of the wars to condense the book some while adding Aegon into the fold.
All that said, the only way I could see Robb warging into Raynald in the realm of possibility is if he escapes and seeks out Rickon or Bran to help them.

He married her because of his lust then. Which is worse than love. But I'd like to think they were in love.
Breaking your wartime contract to honor some trim you just got is not the honorable option.

Robb just didn't have anyone around tell him the wise lesson of not marrying the first one you try out
that was supposed to be Ned's job i guess lol but Theon probably couldve taught him as well

Robb sold his family's honor and safety for her's. Losing the Freys meant the end of a realistic chance of victory over the Lannisters and brought about the RW. The Greatjon was right in that they should have killed the Freys after the split, that was the only option, IMO. They were always going to be enemies after what went down, it was inevitable with Walder Frey's brooding nature.

Exactly. Jon made the right decision, and Robb made the wrong decision in each of their respective stories. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that Jon isn't torn up about it. I think he loved Ygritte, and what Benjen told him in book 1 and season 1 was spot on, when he basically said along the lines of this, and how Jon is too young to fully understand what the vows mean:
Benjen: "The Wall isn't going anywhere...you don't understand what you'll be giving up...We have no families; none of us with father sons."
Jon: "I don't care about that."
Benjen: "You might, if you knew what it meant."
With that being said, I'm in full Crackpot agreement that Benjen knew about R+L and facilitated it.

That Benjen potentially knows about R+L=J even without Ned telling him. Benjen and Lyanna were very close, and some fans argue that he helped Lyanna willingly run off with Rhaegar and how that could be a reason why he took the black. Also, Ben knew Ned well enough to where he could put two and two together and realize that Jon could be Lyanna's son rather than Ned's son. I would think Ned would tell his brother the details about Lyanna's death; even if he didn't explicitly tell Ben about Jon, Ben could reach that conclusion on his own.

Help me with this- during the War of the Usurper, when R+L were together, Benjen was the Stark in Winterfell, correct?
Ned was in the Vale, Bradon & his father were in KL.

Oe had Benjen already taken the black by then?

I just finished ASOS and HOLY frick.
Body Count: Joffrey, Tywin, Robb, the Hound?, The Mountain?, Red Viper, Lysa Arryn
Unbody Count: Motherfricking Cat Stark (Thoros +1)
Lord Commander Snow!? Arya heading to Bravos!
WTF IS GOING ON?

And know you know why I've been acting like this/bumping this thread 6 months before S4 starts. The Hodor reactions are going to be priceless.

He was. I double-checked on the ol' Wiki and you're correct sir. This was the quip about it on his profile:
quote:
During the feast he teased Lyanna when she cried for the song of the dragon prince. [2] During Robert's Rebellion, Benjen was the Stark in Winterfell. He joined the Night's Watch shortly after for reasons unknown.

Right, but like I said, I think Benjen is in my list of possible people who may know about Jon's origins.
People who 100% definitely know about ToJ/Jon:
-Ned Stark (deceased)
-Howland Reed (Ser Too Fat to Write has yet to introduce him but I imagine he'll appear in TWoW)
People who possibly know about Jon:
-Wylla
-Benjen
-Some of the Daynes

I'd say it's possible. I just tend to think it's a very small circle (likely just Ned, Howland, and Wylla) for it to have been under wraps for this long.
