So then he's probably Bran the builder right?
If you were talking about that link a few pages back, yeah, that poster took some liberties about who Martin was referring to with the "Your monster, Brandon Stark." quote and the Brandon Stark tasting the blood...but it's an interesting take.
I think the poster was off in that last bit, about Bran seeing BtB murdered by 'ancient Starks' in front of the Heart Tree - it was stated that the 'bearded man' had a bronze scythe. Sounds more like a First Men (man) to me than a Stark. I always read that vision as a very early Weirnet file
of an early Stark (BtB makes sense) being 'sacrificed' to the old gods...
but now I think it may be an indication that The First Men struck a deal with the Others (Ever wonder how they turned the Andals away when noone else could?)The first men (bronze weapons being highest technology)obliged the Others to kill BtB in the hopes that his magic would perish with him, hoping The Wall would fall.
Another possibility is that BtB was the one with the bronze scythe, performing the necessary blood magic sacrifice to build The Wall or even Winterfell. Makes sense (to me now, I guess) that he would use bronze per his ancestry and perform it in sight of the old gods...Bran tasting the blood is a way of saying this sacrifice gave him and his forefathers life...akept the line from being obliterated long ago - even though I think it more likely a reference to Bran's union with the WW tree, tasting the blood via the roots of the sapling....
ETA: My pastor just threw out a "bend the knee" in his sermon.
