why would he head there?

not why is the onion knight heading there, why would rickon head there
quote:

Osha took him because the wildlings are friendly with skagos they do a lot of trading with each other

did not realize this. makes a little more sense

eta: just went back and read my post, it does sound like i was asking why the onion knight would head there. but no was wondering why rickon would go to a place with cannibals

And it is rumored that they are cannibals it's not fact.

I have a feeling that they got that reputation after a particularly hard winter when they were forced to eat their dead to survive or something along those lines.

The people of the seven kingdoms think all the wildlings are savages as well but we know that that's not the case. Sure some savage men live north of the wall but is Gregor Clegane not a savage?

Cruel men can't be confined to one border

true. putting it that way makes me doubt they are as bad as they are made out to be.

plus, now that i think about it, doubt that osha would put rickon in that kind of danger

I'm still holding out hope that the unicorn rumors are true, though.

Something I've been wondering. I've just assumed the Others are a threat to Essos, but will/did the long winter affect that area as well? Wasn't Valyria called the land of eternal summer?

Unfortunately we dont have alot of historical information on essos, but it is assumed that if the great other destroyed westeros then it is only a matter of time before they destroyed essos as well. Not to mention that melisandre seems to view them as a threat to all mankind and she is from asshai which on the other side of the world.

I am half way through my re-read of the Feast for Dragons, the modified reading e-pub that has all the chapters put in chronological order.

I have had three Song of Ice and Fire dreams this week, with last night being a heated debate amongst a group of friends about which side of the Blackfyre rebellion to join. The night before was an indepth discussion about root and stem family culling with Tywin Lannister.

Am I becoming a greenseer? I NEED to finish this re-read before I go complete Throneception.

Bran had a dream (I think it was bran anyway) that shaggy dog was fighting a unicorn so I'd pretty much accept it as fact now.

However they aren't like Harry potter unicorns I think they're more goat like.
I picture a ram with a single horn

Correction it was Jon's dream

Just a heads up, Leigh Butler is getting close to the RW in her read of SoS. She this finished the Catelyn's chapter when Walder Frey asks for Robb to apologize and Edmure’to marry Walder's granddaughter.
LINK
She thought about this after reading the chapter.
quote:

Also, I’m probably being paranoid, but I really got my hackles up at Walder’s condition that Robb apologize to him face to face. Not because of the apology itself, which I think is actually quite apropos, but because all that says to me is prime assassination attempt opportunity. I’m just saying, Robb, if you go there, watch your back.

Looks like the RW won't destroy her like it did most of us since she saw it coming.

I thought something was going to happen, there was a lot of foreshadowing; however, I did not think it would be as bad as it was. I thought Robb would escape and head to the swamps and get with the Reeds and other crannogman.

I saw it coming

Or at least something major was about to happen negatively towards rob, his mom, and their men. It smelled to much like a trap, couldn't believe rob was being that stupid.

eta: That's what pissed me off the most. Not their deaths. Just that rob and his mom could be that stupid to walk into a trap like that. Even without the foreshadowing. Something was amiss when fray invited him down, acting like he was gonna forgive them with only minor consequences for doing what rob did. Taking into consideration what they knew of the head fray, they should of known something was up and not trusted the old man. But instead they went like sheep to slaughter

I think everybody saw it coming, just that nobody saw the extent it was going to get to. Robb with Grey Wolf's head, Cat with a slit throat, the betrayals, the entire north and Riverlands being defeated in a single feast. Every hope was taken away at the time. GRRM left us in a position to believe no good would ever come for the heroes.

I didnt see it coming. Didnt think Frey had the stones to make a move like that. Particularly after sharing meat and meed.

The Freys violated a sacred oath of the high houses of Westeros. Robb did as well with spurning the Frey girl. I do think that the Freys went overboard and their time will come. I just want Nymeria to eat Walder's guts while he is still alive.

Stoneheart will have the last laugh on the Freys at Riverrun. Not a good idea for the Freys to get back out on the marriage circuit.
