Under the pact, Martin will continue as co-executive producer on Game Of Thrones, whose Season 3 premieres March 31. Additionally, he will develop and produce new series projects for the network.

I'm so conflicted by this information.

He's probably pushing Wild Cards, or maybe the lesser known writers from those anthologies the D&E stories appeared in.

Starting to get really frustrating. Can't write more than one POV every three months. So what does he do? Take's on more projects.

Dunk and Egg movies to hold us over while he finishes the last two books?

They would be cool, or even more backstory in the world like the Dance of Dragons story, but honestly I wish he wouldn't take stuff like this on until he finishes what all his fans want. Am I wrong in thinking nobody would know who the frick he is if he hadn't written ASOIAF?

I hear the frustration from my brethren, and hate to add to it... Is it possible the TV series gig was a trade for less "creative control" over GOT? If true, the implications are endless...

Or is Martin just packing a golden parachute in case GOT is cancelled ( more likely, catches up to ADwD and can't continue...without a significant reduction in GRRM's CC over the show )

Or is Martin just sucking the marrow out of every potential red cent ASoIaF makes NOW, cause he knows he'll never complete it?

I'm not alone in doubting he has the testicular fortitude (or years left) to do an about-face in his writing, and turn all these diverging story lines into one acceptably cohesive tale. Even to come close (leaving a few loose ends) would be an enormous task.

Will GRRM spear-head adaptations of Armageddon Rag or Tuf Voyaging? Or is he going to develop all-new properties for the cable network?

Tuf Voyaging would be pretty awesome to see done on HBO. It's a pretty episodic book as it is. Armageddon Rag is a decent book but would make a subpar HBO series I would think. Though perhaps they could be looking at Wild Cards.

I sure as hell hope he's not coming up with new material before finishing the series.

Sorry about my crappy paint skills, but you get the point.

Credit to Mr. Wayne for the quote.

Haven't read any of this thread, b/c don't want to read any spoilers. I'm about half - three quarters of the way through the fourth book, not sure how far along this thread is, if it's just for people that have finished all the released books or what...

Anyway just stopping by to say frick cersei lannister, frick that evil bitch. Someone needs to off her soon. That's all, just had to get that off my chest

Welcome to the party-BUT- don't come back till you finish thru 'Dragons. (And the Dunk and Egg tales) or spoilers galore!

In case not familiar w D&E: Three short stories taking place like 80(?) years before AGoT events 1. The Hedge Knight
2. The Sworn Sword 3. The Mystery Knight
There are PDF copies on the net and at scribd dot com.

I'd read all 3 BEFORE reading 'Dragons, but just IMO.

And yeah, she's a brotherfrickuh!

I have them on ePub if you want them. Just post your email and either myself or someone else here will send them to you.

And definitely finish the books before you pop back in. We cover pretty much everything here. Don't want to spoil you.
