Hated that little fricker.
Never realized he ended up there because his parents went to South America for his dad's job.

That might've been one of the first cases of the TV trope being established where they need to bring in a young kid to keep kids at the forefront of the show. Think of how many shows have done that over time: Diff'rent Strokes (the awful little redhead kid), Cosby Show, Growing Pains. Hell, they're already having another kid on Blackish, FFS.

The Worst Examples of Cousin Oliver Syndrome in TV Sitcom History. Cousin Oliver Syndrome is the well worn TV sitcom trope of introducing a younger character to the cast of a show in it's later years as a desperate attempt to add life to a show that had grown a bit long in the tooth.

One of the most irritating examples was on Green Acres, which had a story arc featuring an allegedly cute little girl that totally destroyed the surrealistic humor of the show. Fortunately she wasn't made a regular.
