The problem is no one in my generation watches network late night TV. He should've stayed at comedy central.

And The older generation that all watch late night network TV, none of them like or get Colbert. It sucks.

I'm in bed at least 90 minutes before those shows come on.

His show is awful , james corden is actually very good. The problem with colbert is his show is too serious, too political and is too similar to his last show on CC with less satire

Sounds exactly like what happened to Conan. Besides the whole Leno being a douche thing.

I'm not a huge Colbert fan but Seth Meyers is the absolute worst.

You never want to be the guy who follows the guy.

No matter how good (or bad) Colbert's show is, it will inevitably be compared to Letterman's.

Yeah the problem is he kept the politics but lost the satire. So now it's like a late night politics show. What people there are who DO still watch late night want a Johnny Carson. A warm, fun, not too serious living room hangout friend as they lay in bed. A band, some celebrity interviews where the conversation isn't turned to politics... you know: Jimmy Fallon.

They should've just given it to Ferguson.

, too political

That's it in a nutshell. Poking fun at politics and politicians is fun. Most of them are absurd people and deserve to be diminished. However, Colbert is little more than a shill for the DNC and it's not funny or entertaining to see someone in that position endorse and promote an agenda.

Yeah, exactly. Lampooning all politicians is perfect fodder for late night. Castigating only one side of the spectrum while championing the other is just propaganda. People just want to be entertained and distracted by late night not "politically re-educated".

I got The Colbert Report. It was funny at times, regardless of the slant. The new show is just too political, too serious, and too unfunny.

There are too many outlets for serious political discussion. Anyone watching a late night wants to relax and laugh a little.

Colbert is trying to be a serious grown up political host now, and he just doesn't have the chops of a Charlie Rose, a Tavis Smiley, or countless others.

Yep. That's pretty much it.

I wonder how Conan would've done replacing Dave.

We DVR Colbert and Meyers.

Meyers has the best "classic" late night show. He's laid back, goes with his strengths, his band isn't trying to blow the audience out of the room.

Colbert is by far the sharpest interviewer in late night.

CBS is going to give Colbert years to perfect his show. They're going with him for the long haul.

I've tried watching the Late Show with Colbert and it's just too boring.

His satirical shtick is what made the Colber Report hilarious, but there's nothing really that funny about normal Colbert. Plus, I quickly got tired of him always having one political figure on as guest.

Fallon and Kimmell stay away from politics for the most part, and that's why they've been successful IMO - there's nothing to take seriously.

He'll stabilize. He'll find a more appealing voice over time. None of the late night guys hit their stride right out of the gates.
