Cinderella - Very well done

This movie kicked arse as much as a PG movie that we know the ending to can kick arse.
The magic was so done so tastefully. The visuals were beautiful. They fixed some of the problems with the story (prince was more likable, an actual relationship was displayed). Also, there were some really funny parts. It was really weird to see Helena Bonham Carter in a role where she wasn't dark.
Also, the casting of Robb Stark cracked me up. He did a great job. Game of Thrones spoiler below. Overall, I really enjoyed it, and if I was a parent I would take my kid to see this as many times as they asked.

Hopefully, marrying for love works out better for Robb Stark this time.

I've been a Cinderella addict since birth. I've seen every incarnation made, I believe. Hoping to take my nieces.

This movie was good and I'll unashamedly admit I was there to watch it on Thursday for the first show available. It made you feel a wide range of emotions. Lily James was great. Really the whole cast was solid.
Rob Brydon's cameo
The Frozen short was awful though.

I didn't hate the Frozen short. It would nice to see the characters in something other than that movie.

I thought it was a good film too. And I got a kick out of Richard Madden's character being named Kit because of Jon Snow.
Also thought it was interesting how the black guy from Qarth in S2 was in the film too .

Took my daughters today. I thought it was good. They enjoyed it. My only problem was the selection of Cinderella. I couldn't get past the eyebrows. She just wasn't pretty enough to be Cinderella imo.
Maybe I'm biased because Cinderella at Disney World is easily the hottest Princess there.
Spoilers
My daughter asked why they changed the story. She's a princess, not a queen. She's part of the "Disney Princesses". Didn't bother me, but thought she had a good point.

Did they explicitly state that he was the king or was his mother still in the picture and was Queen Regent? I assume she was dead since we never saw her.

I'm pretty sure they said by order of the King when taking the slipper around to find her.

I agree, the cinderella wasn't very attractive to me. I don't think it takes away from the story or anything though. Good flick.

I saw it Sunday afternoon. I did like it, but I just hate how horrible they treat Ella. Obviously that is part of the story but it gets me kinda in a downer mood. And it was negative much longer than positive so that kinda hurt it for me. I'm not going to see a Disney princess (queen) movie to be put in a shite mood about some girl who lost her family and was practically put into slavery...
My favorite parts
The mice - Well done. Love how they interacted without giving them an actual voice.
The blue dress - They killed it with her dress. It was mesmerizing. Also enjoyed all the magic that went along with the ball. The lizards, mice, pumpkin, etc were awesome.
Likable prince - That dude was all about her because she was cool and not because she was just a hottie. He seemed genuinely cool dude. Respect for Kit.
Evil Stepmother - She killed it. I wanted to backhand her halfway through the movie. Hated her.
Background/scenery - They sure got the settings right. Whether it was forest scenes, city scenes, castle scenes or water scenes it was beautiful. Really a great job with it all.

Can someone explain why they have to go around town putting the slipper on everyone. the "king" knew what she looked like. It makes no sense.

Youre crazy. She was gorgeous. I passed the time picturing her getting pounded.

Yeah. It's a children's story, and it makes for some funny scenes, especially with the step sisters trying to fit the shoe on. They couldn't exactly remove that classic element of the story.

Saw it recently. I agree with you on the blue dress. It was incredible.
The carriage was spectacular. The lizards were my favorite. The teeth and still had the green hands.
They did a great job after the stroke of midnight as everything was changing back.

The Duke fitted every girl with the slipper to make a big production. He wanted to demonstrate how absurdly hard he was searching for her.

It's at Hollywood Studios. My daughters took a picture in front of it, holding the glass slipper last week.
