Anybody watch this? It's an interesting way to watch LOST. I'm in 1977 right now, right in the middle of the Dharma Initiative. It makes you realize 2 things: 1) Jack is the worst. 2) Ben really is a sympathetic character. Seriously, I feel bad for the kid and Sayiid had everything coming.

Namaste.

Why would you watch like that?

It completely negates the mystery and awe of the show.

Cause I've seen the show already. The mystery is gone. It's just fun watching the show from a different angle. The time traveling is a lot more prevalent this way.

Yeah, he was probably my favorite behind Locke. Ben wasn't as bad as we think he is. When we first meet Ben, he's already on his downward spiral. He acts like he's in control, but he's really not, he's just one hell of a manipulator. Ben may have been partially responsible for the Purge and yeah it was kinda fricked up for him to not allow Juliet to leave the Island (although he had his reasons for wanting to correct the pregnancy problem on the Island as well), but Ben wasn't really all that bad of a person before the crash of Flight 815. He took being absolutely shunned by Jacob for decades pretty well, but then Ben develops cancer at a place where it is impossible to develop cancer, and his entire worldview falls apart (I can just about guarantee MIB gave it to him to continue to put seeds of doubt in him about Jacob). Top it off that his replacement has just fallen out of the sky and fully healed instantly, and Ben doesn't take that very well and becomes absolutely obsessed with his control and power almost overnight. Ben gives into his hatred and anger and devolves to a point he never thought himself capable of. The episode "Dead is Dead" is a good episode that illustrates this.

To watch it chronolgically would you just watch season 5 before season 1?

Ben: "What about me?"
Jacob: "What about you?"

I loved this scene. Ben was put in his place and in the end, chose vengeance.

I downloaded it, but I haven't watched it yet.

I watched a couple episodes on Amazon recently so maybe I should actually watch it this way instead

My bad. I thought you meant it was your first viewing.

I wouldn't do it that way. This guy cuts in all the flash sideways into their proper spots, and when the island is jumping through time. Also the character back stories.

Ok got ya. That sounds much more interesting than just starting off with season 5. I'm rewatching the show for the 4th time and I'm in the middle of Season 3, so maybe the 5th time around I will check this out.

It looks like it follows the "what happened happened" rule, and everything from the original airing is included, including the flashback, flash sideways, back stories...

He may have put Ben in what he felt Ben's place was: a worthless tool who doesn't mean shite. The guy goaded Ben into killing him. Simply put Jacob is an absolute a-hole, probably the biggest one in the show, and all this is his damn fault, but he just sits on his arse and lets them "help themselves". If Jacob had just talked to Ben over the years, Ben would have never gone down the dark path that he did. Ben needed some guidance, but the only guidance he received was from an entity who merely used him as a tool who encouraged his life to go along a downward spiral. When Jacob said "What about you?" He may as well have said "Can you still not take a hint? After 30 years I have refused to see you, and you really think I give a damn about you? Eat shite and die you pathetic mother fricker." The guy's death should have been worse than Ben merely stabbing him.

Wouldn't the flash sideways be at the very end?

yeah but i think he means he cuts it so it runs continously at the end and not broken up? right?

In the first episode there were a few scenes playing at the same time, which kinda sucked. I hope they don't do that with the flash sideways and the regular timeline.
