CBS TO BROADCAST ITS FIRST CELEBRITY EDITION OF REALITY HIT “BIG BROTHER”

quote:

CBS today announced it will broadcast its first celebrity edition of reality hit BIG BROTHER. The special winter edition will feature multiple episodes per week during a concentrated run and include the series’ signature Head of Household and Power of Veto competitions and live evictions. Julie Chen will host.

CBS All Access, the CBS Television Network’s subscription video on demand and live-streaming service, will again share all the action from inside the house with its 24/7 live feed. Also, Pop TV will provide fans the exclusive live television broadcast of BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK, an unfiltered late-night feed from inside the house. Additional details regarding scheduling and casting will be announced at a later date.

The celebrity edition of the series is in addition to BIG BROTHER’s milestone 20th season that will be broadcast in summer 2018.

“BIG BROTHER has been dominating pop culture throughout its 19 seasons, and it is exciting to grow the franchise with the first-ever celebrity edition in the U.S.,” said executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan. “Celebrities will be under the watchful eye of the Big Brother cameras, facing the classic game elements, and of course new twists in this special winter event.”

One of television’s biggest reality franchises, BIG BROTHER has been a summer staple on the Network since 2000. This year’s edition continues to be one of the summer television’s biggest hits, with all three weekly broadcasts ranking among the summer’s top 5 broadcasts in A18-34, A18-49 and A25-54 while averaging 7.35 million viewers.

This season’s numbers have increased online as well, with full episode streams on CBS All Access up nearly 20% over last summer. The 24/7 live feeds are also up, year to year. According to Nielsen social, BIG BROTHER has ranked as the #1 most social series on broadcast television since its June premiere across Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, Pop TV’s broadcast of BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK is out-delivering the past two seasons by double digits among viewers and key demos.

BIG BROTHER follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with 87 HD cameras and more than 100 microphones, recording their every move 24 hours a day. BIG BROTHER is produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol Shine North America.

Since the announcement of the celebrity edition of Big Brother there have been some stars who have publicly expressed their interest in joining. Do you know of any talent currently pitching themselves to the network?

Oh, yes. I won't say names, but maybe more than one member of *NSYNC is trying to get in there. I just came from a Big Brother meeting and they didn't give me any names. They just said they're getting tons of calls from agents and are starting to take meetings. And I saw that Anthony Scaramucci is following some of the Big Brother houseguests and [executive producer] Allison Grodner on social media. Maybe he's doing research, I don't know.

What else can you tease about the newest edition?

It's going to be more intense than what you're used to seeing because it's going to be concentrated. Picture everything about Big Brother, but nonstop action because it's going to be on a fast forward button.

Introducing our first celebtrity houseguest...Paul abromanaoanviaivc!!!!!!!!!!!

Jk, they better fricking not.

My only concern about this season is that they won't "take it seriously". I know that's a joke considering how esentially nobody took this recent season serious, btu I mean these are celebrities that I assume are worth millions so what do they care about winning a few bucks? There's got to be some kind of motivational incentive to get these people to play. I just hope they actually PLAY the game and not just treat it like 1)a several month hangout with other rich famous people 2)an opportunity to plug their next project and get more social media followers.

i just have a feeling they will include some "celebrities" that i can't stand to see/hear and i'll end up avoiding the show.

Even if it's shite celebrities, I will enjoy the shite out of it.

I hope they can get someone like CM Punk in there.

It would be funny if a music artist would sing a song they own the rights to.

I think it would be funny if they put politically outspoken celebrities in the house together. Can you imagine Ted Nugent and Lena Dunham in the same house? Scott Baio and Kathy Griffin? It'd be more like Thunderdome than Big Brother. I would watch that.

I think I will too.

Although if they bring in even ONE "celebrity" that has been on big brother before I'm gonna fricking lost it. I can just see them trying to claim frankie grande as a celebrity.

im stealing this quote from somebody but its true

how are they going to find enough celebrities that:

a) are hard up enough for attention they want to do this

b) don't have a drug habit, or somehow convince cbs to let them do drugs in the DR off camera

c) don't have any prospects of another project on the horizon

This will be a celebrity cast of D listers you have never heard of.

do you think George Clooney is going to go into a house with a bunch of other people with no TV, phone, or outside contact?

I read a rumored list which included Dog the Bounty Hunter and a couple of chicks from shows like real houses and mob boss wives...might have some actual violence go down with crazy bitches like that on the show.
