After nearly 10 seasons on CBS, numerous Emmy Awards wins, and untold millions of dollars, The Big Bang Theory is now getting a pint-sized prequel series spin-off, Young Sheldon. For those who don’t follow the show, it will revisit the childhood of TBBT star Jim Parsons‘ notoriously brilliant but difficult character. And, in no surprise, it’s been ordered straight to series.
CBS’ Young Sheldon, a new half-hour, single-camera comedy for broadcast in the 2017-2018 season, follows The Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon Cooper at the age of 9, living with his family in East Texas and going to high school. Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, the series stars Iain Armitage as the title character, with Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan, while Parsons will narrate as Adult Sheldon.
Jon Favreau is directing/executive producing the first episode of the series, but there’s no word on how many episodes have been ordered just yet.

I hope they watch Bernie to get a feel for how you can do people from East Texas w/o having to go completely over the top w/Texas stereotypes.

I've stuck with the show for all these years and I have zero interest in this concept

I'd never seen that.
I really liked the show for the first few seasons. It started going downhill when they brought the other girls into it.

I'm not a huge fan of BBT but it's incredibly unfair to judge the jokes on a show w/a laugh track when the track has been altered or deleted.
There is a completely different flow that requires those beats for the actors responses to make sense. It's not too far off from when actors in a stage play wait for th audience to chill after a big laugh to continue their lines.
Even shows like I Love Lucy, MASH, and Friends would come off as incredibly awkward if you altered or deleted the track.

I feel like there's a 95% chance this is a giant failure.

I don't give a shite how lame the concept is. That's impressive.

Conclusive proof of how horrible it is.
To each his/her own, but this show has never interested me in the slightest, except for Kaley Cuoco's tots.

I reasonably like TBBT, but this sounds dumb.

Technically, the short nerd girl's tots are Hottentots.

I'll never watch this, but because people with less than reputable tastes are attracted to garbage CBS sitcoms like flies to poop this will air for 14 seasons and 300 episodes.

It's just going to be a make fun of Texas show. Look how they mock Sheldon's mom every single time she's on the show. I'd rather see a spinoff that centered around Stuart and Zach as roommates.

Stuart is just creepy and pathetic. Im shocked the SJW influence from the actors who play Howard, Bernadetta and Amy haven't demanded to Lorre that Raj and Stuart turn out to be gay for each other.
Zach deserves his own show, however, and his underuse on BBT has been criminal.
Penny's rack über alles.

I doubt that. Jim Parsons is a proud Texan. His mom's character on the show is written that way for contrast. Don't be so sensitive.

Well I'm basing that off the fact every time his childhood comes up on the show that's how it's presented. I'm not going SJW trying to organize a boycott of the show on twitter just merely stating my opinion. If that's how the show is I'm not going to scream and cry it should be taken off the air. Regardless I don't think the show is going to work without Parson's playing the characters so it's a non issue really.
