Just finished it. Pretty damn good. I love the actors mixed into all the bands.

I watched this one last night (interestingly enough, I saw it at the Village East Cinema, which happens to be the cinema nearest the former site of CBGB). I was expecting a dud, and I got a tad better than the dud. I would be less forgiving of some of the flubs if there hadn't been the "This story is almost entirely true" disclaimer at the beginning. One thing that stood out to me was Patti Smith singing "Because the Night" in 1975, and I didn't like this choice for two reasons: 1) this song is vastly different from most of the stuff Patti played, especially at CBGB 2) This song wasn't recorded until three years later, when Patti had "made it" and was given the song by Bruce Springsteen when he couldn't get the E Street Band to lay it down like he wanted it in the Darkness on the Edge of Town sessions.
The movie does have me playing a lot of Television, Talking Heads, and even Blondie today.

Select theaters. Not sure if it's available on-demand anywhere. It isn't a hit, and it isn't the greatest movie ever made, so I don't think you'll have to wait that long.
But if you're into that type of music and especially the history surrounding it, it's a must-see.

Hadn't even heard of it until I caught a trailer in the Pearl Jam documentary. Definitely will see; is it a comedy?
