I find it hard to believe he sat in jail for 2 years for a bum rap. I can see it taking a year, but 2?

Bail is usually reduced after a while to give a possibly innocent person a chance to live their life while fighting the charges.
His family must be way below the poverty line.

Im sure they'll have plenty applicants. But how stupid do you have to be to get fooled, at this point? If you're applying for the show you obviously watch it and know that all Nev does is a google search.
