That's a terrible article on multiple levels. The government goes after Rogers before he starts "punching" anyone. That's the first of many wrong conceptions of the comic storyline.

I would also specifically trust Marvel in not ruining RDJ for the profit alone. They know he's a revenue generator, they won't leave the film with him in limbo. I expect at least a tentatively happy conclusion on this one. (The only way I wouldn't is if we get an Iron Man 4 announcement sometime before release, which I do think is realistic. That changes the game. Without that, there's nothing for them to "solve issues" before IW, and that's too long of a wait.)

Don't we get Black Panther and Strange before IW Part I?


My uneducated guess that has no basis in fact with slight spoilers from limited Comic Book Knowledge:

-I think it ends with Cap surrendering, and Crossbones killing him (allegedly). Bucky becomes Cap in the comics for a little while before they resurrect Steve. Bucky is Cap through IW part I, then they bring Steve back in Part II. My reasoning for this is Evans has been quoted as saying he wants a break to do other stuff. Sebastian Stan is inked for a bunch of movies. This gives Evans a break, develop Bucky in the Cap role, and leads to a major team up in IW Part II. Also, you can deal with the repercussions of Steve's death in any number of movies in any number of ways, especially with Tony.

Once again, I have no basis in fact for any of that, it just makes sense to me.

I don't expect Stark or Rogers in Strange. MAYBE Black Panther, but I would hope BP is very much a BP movie and doesn't involve a lot of Avengers. He's a strong character without them. However....

I was against this for a long time, following the Cap Death storyline, but this might make sense. Looking at it now, 2016 brings only a 2 year gap to IW, that isn't bad for an Evans hiatus.

And it would make a ton of sense, if in fact they bring Bucky on as Cap, that he becomes a bit player in the the lead up films to IW. Panther, Thor, and/or Strange. Although Strange is already filming so we'd know if either Evans or Stan are on set...maybe.

EDIT: The big problem with this is that it makes the end of AoU really insignificant. The team lasts less than a single film.

William Hurt is playing Ross.

Supposedly, Marisa Tomei will be playing Aunt May.
