Can someone highlight the major inaccuracies in Deepwater Horizon?
Posted by GetCocky11 on 4/7/17 at 6:58 am01
I got around to watching this movie. I enjoyed it, but I was wondering if anybody here who knows anything about the actual event can explain the major differences between the movie and the real event.

The way Wahlberg pronounced Schlumberger was way off and pretty funny. "Those Slum-ber-jay guys".

I'm not too sure about that. I worked at one of the facilities in TX and their employees pronounced it exactly like he did.

There was a poster on here last year that worked on the DH and knew the guy Wahlberg plays, and said he was nothing like him.

I actually met one of the extras from the movie who worked close to Wahlberg a couple times. He said that Mark actually got pretty emotional during some of the scenes because they had people who were there letting him know how it went down. Still have yet to see it but thought that was pretty cool.

John Malkovich's cajun accent was pretty bad.

Biggest one is that Wahlberg's character would have never known anything about what was going on in the with the actual well. He got off the helicopter freaking that they didn't do a cement bond log. He'd have never known what that was. He was the rig electrician. He fixed equipment on the rig, that's it.

That's how the drilling guys said it here too

That's how it's pronounced. Slum-bur-jay.

yeah I never understood why he was involved at all in the drilling meetings even though it seemed like he was a handy man fixing toilets and stuff

I'm not sure what you are thinking, but the end of the name certainly doesn't rhyme with hamburger.

They show him driving to Fourchon but taking off in a helicopter from Galliano hahaha
Obviously not a big deal and just location editing but being from there it gave me a chuckle.
