BvS: too many storylines (possible spoilers)

Just saw it; as a comic book fan, they just crossed a billion storylines. I saw shades of "The Death of Superman," Injustice: Gods Among Us," The new 52's first Justice Leagu storyline, and even some Flashpoint in there. If this were the economy by we were talking about, I'd say the director/producer were using shock therapy on us. Not a horrible movie considering what they tried to do, but Jesus, people, take some time to develop the product, not cram it down our faces!

There was plot lines from "Death of Superman", "The Dark Night Returns" "The Killing Joke", "Injustice" , Bizarro, New 52 and tons of other smaller subtleties. Supposedly the Brainiac is the next big bad, so maybe he is behind Lex.

I thought the flying monster-things in the dream sequence were minions of Darkseid?

I'm not buying that. It could wind up as Brainiac, but everything points to Darkseid. Also, there are no other reports of Brainiac being the villain.

I just think they decided to lower our expectations so that way they can't fail as bad anymore.

Yeah, I agree. Darkseid is clearly the next antagonist. Nothing whatsoever has been hinted toward Brainiac. Brainiac has a clear symbol as well, which was not present:

Just treat it as a movie instead of an amalgamation of a bunch of comics.
