The ending worked very well.
Not for a show like The Sopranos
The only people who wanted something different apparently were looking for something tied up in a nice bow so that they didn't have to use their head.
No, it wasnt hard to figure out what happened.
And, yes, I liked the ending on the very night it happened. I was surprised . . . maybe a little disappointed for a few minutes . . . but after talking about it among the people I was with, we all came to sort of admire it.
So, you all had to convince each other that it was good. That's pretty normal. It's gotten to the point that people have all done this with each other to the degree that they don't want to admit that it was a shite way to end the show in fear of basically being called dumb.
The fact that it's controversial and pisses people off makes it even more interesting to me.
That's a seriously weak reason to like anything.
Again, how it ended did not fit with how the series had always been presented, period.
ETA: Everything you have said is basically excellent proof that the ending sucked.
